Naomi Ceder has been learning, using, and teaching Python since 2001. She is the author of the Quick Python Book, 2nd edition, the creator of the PyCon US poster session and Education Summit, and the co-founder of Trans*Code. Naomi is a member of the Python Software Foundation board of directors for 2015/2016. She speaks about her own experiences of marginalization with the hope of making the communities she loves more diverse and welcoming.
Nick is a CPython core developer and a member of the 2014/15 Board of Directors for the Python Software Foundation. He is the author or co-author of several accepted Python Enhancement Proposals (including PEP 453, which saw the pip installer bundled with Python 3.4+, and PEP 466, which saw several key Python 3 network security enhancements backported to the Python 2.7 series), and has also accepted a number of PEPs on Guido van Rossum's behalf as BDFL-Delegate. Since June 2011, after more than 12 years in the aerospace and defence sector with Boeing Australia, Nick has been working on development and test infrastructure for Red Hat. He is currently a software development workflow designer & process architect for several of Red Hat's internal services, focusing on the use of Docker and Kubernetes to simplify and streamline language independent development and deployment processes.
Paul Hildebrandt has been a Senior Engineer with Walt Disney Animation Studios (WDAS) since 1996. Hildebrandt leads the team responsible for developing the digital asset manager, media player, dailies review system with a mobile interface, and other related tools. Among the Disney animated films that he has contributed to are the Oscar® winning Big Hero 6 and Frozen and Oscar®-nominated box office hits, "Wreck-It Ralph", "Tangled", "Bolt", "Treasure Planet" and "Dinosaur". He is WDAS' evangelist for PyCon and other Python sponsorships. He received his BSEE from California Polytechnic University Pomona. He resides outside of Los Angeles with his wife and three boys.
Steve Holden has been using, writing about, teaching and supporting the Python language in various ways for over twenty years, and he is still enthusiastic about the language's potential. Recently returned from a 20-year sojourn in the USA he is now looking forward to re-establishing himself in the UK and visiting the rest of Europe.
Laurens comes to PyCon PL for the second time, previously he gave a talk at PyCon PL 2012. He is an information security and distributed systems engineer, PSF fellow and a member of PyCon staff. Beard solves discrete logs in fields of small characteristic.
